SICILY. Selinos. Circa 455-409 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.52 g, 12 h). Apollo and Artemis standing left in a quadriga moving slowly to left; Artemis holding the reins and Apollo drawing his bow. Rev. ΣΕΛΙΝΟΣ The river-god Selinos standing front, head to left, holding laurel branch in his left hand and a phiale in his right; to left, garlanded altar; before altar, a rooster standing left; to right, selinon leaf over a bull standing left on a base. Schwabacher 15. Very rare. Struck on a somewhat irregularly shaped flan, otherwise, very fine.
